Jean Purich RN
Jean Purich grew up in Western Pennsylvania and graduated from Presbyterian-University Hospital (University of Pittsburgh) School of Nursing. She pursued a career in open heart surgery and coronary care nursing.
She was certified in Advanced Coronary Care. In 1981, Jean started International Clinical Services, Inc., a clinical monitoring and NDA (New Drug Application) writing company. She monitored Phase I and II studies, developed protocols, case report forms and informed consents.
In 1989, she joined the National Association of Family, Community, Education (FCE), a 501 (c)3 nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of women, children and families. She grew in the ranks, and became president of the Maryland Association of FCE in 2003-2004. Jean developed and presented programs on issues pertaining to women, families and health. She organized and directed a National FCE meeting in Burlington Vermont. By participating in the Family and Community Leadership program, she acquired the designation of a Certified Leader. Currently Jean is the county FCE President and state FCE newsletter editor. Four times Jean has represented Maryland FCE as a voting delegate at the international triennial meeting of the Associated Country Women of the World (ACWW), a nonprofit with a membership of over 9 million women in approximately 70 countries.
She has won many first place and Grand Champion ribbons for her educational displays at the Montgomery County Fair.
Jean is also a member of the Cooperative Extension Advisory Council. The council provides input to the University of Maryland Cooperative Extension Service concerning which programs are needed, how to implement them, how to reach the public and how to provide the extension services.
Jean’s passion is to help others through education, knowledge and sharing of skills and ideas. She is most happy when doing something for others.
